Do you know anyone who wears a Fitbit? The answer should be “yes” since Fitbit is one of the most popular fitness trackers on the market. So what’s wrong with Fitbit smartwatches? They’re not compatible with Apple Watch. And they’re not compatible with the majority of Android watches either. While this may seem like a significant setback, Fitbit has some big plans for its smartwatches.

In this blog post, we’ll look at why Fitbit should focus on developing its own proprietary operating system instead of working with Google’s Wear OS. Fitbit recently announced a new line of smartwatches called Blaze. These Fitbit smartwatches run a proprietary operating system called Fitbit OS. While this operating system is perfect, the real story here is Fitbit’s plans for developing its smartwatch OS. Why? Because Fitbit can build a platform that works precisely.

Wait, do People Want Fitbit to Use Wear OS?

I’ve seen countless people ask, “Why don’t Fitbit make a smartwatch?”

While it seems like a no-brainer, Fitbit smartwatches don’t work with Apple Watch or other Android watches. This is because the Fitbit OS does not support third-party apps. The real story here is that Fitbit is building their own proprietary operating system instead of relying on Google’s Wear OS.

There are a number of reasons that Fitbit could be doing this. For one thing, Google Wear OS has a large problem with app compatibility. Google has tried to fix this by making their own Wear OS, and it has been quite successful. However, Fitbit has the advantage of being able to work with their own operating system.

Fitbit could potentially build a platform that works specifically. There are many other advantages to doing this, including the fact that Fitbit can develop their own apps for their wearable.

smartwatchesBattery life is the biggest problem

Fitbit has an advantage because it is a well-known brand. In fact, the Fitbit Blaze is a $200 device. If the Blaze isn’t selling well, it wouldn’t make sense for Fitbit to develop a new operating system for a $200 device.

If they were to develop a new operating system, it would be a huge risk for Fitbit. This is because the company doesn’t have much of a history in smartwatch technology. However, if Fitbit does decide to go it alone, there are a couple of things they can do to make their smartwatch OS better than Wear OS.

First, they could implement their own native app support. This means that Fitbit apps would work on the Blaze. Second, they could add native customization features. This is something that Google hasn’t done with Wear OS.

smartwatchesDo You Really Want Fitbit to Cost More?

Fitbit recently announced a new line of smartwatches called Blaze. These Fitbit smartwatches run a proprietary operating system called Fitbit OS. While this operating system is very good, the real story here is Fitbit’s plans for developing their own smartwatch OS. Why? Because Fitbit can build a platform that works specifically.

So what does this mean?

It means that Fitbit can build their own operating system and not have to worry about a new platform from Google or Apple.

While this is a great move, it comes at a cost. For one thing, Fitbit will likely charge more for their smartwatches. This is because they’ll need to pay for the hardware, the software, and the service. But if you really want to be clear on how much this will cost you, it’s $349 for the base Blaze, $429 for the Blaze 2, and $399 for the Blaze X.

Of course, you can always buy a Fitbit that’s already running the latest version of the operating system, but that’s a lot more expensive than the new ones. Fitbit has also been working on creating their own app store. This could be a huge benefit for Fitbit, as it allows them to control the flow of apps.

smartwatchesFitbit’s Greatest Strength Is Its Simplicity

Fitbit’s Greatest Strength Is Its Simplicity. Fitbit has always focused on simplicity. As a result, Fitbit has grown to become one of the world’s leading fitness trackers. This is because Fitbit’s operating system is simple. In fact, Fitbit’s operating system is so simple, that it’s been adopted by many other companies. For example, the Apple Watch and Android Wear smartwatches are both based on the same operating system. This means that the software and hardware used to build Apple Watch is basically the same software and hardware used to build Fitbit smartwatches.

Fitbit’s operating system also makes it easier to build fitness trackers. This is because Fitbit’s operating system is designed to be lightweight. This means that you can easily embed sensors, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and sleep tracking. Fitbit’s operating system also allows users to customize their watch face. This makes it easier for users to add new data sources such as GPS, heart rate, and health monitoring apps. The bottom line is that Fitbit has a unique platform. It’s built around simplicity. And it allows Fitbit to create devices that are better than the competition.

smartwatchesTake Your Pixel Watch and Leave Fitbit Alone

Fitbit has always been a company that has made money off of the idea of “health and wellness”. While their smartwatches have been pretty decent, they have never been able to capitalize on the idea of health and wellness.

Fitbit’s biggest problem is that they use Google’s Wear OS. Google’s Wear OS is a pretty terrible smartwatch OS. It has a very limited feature set, and it doesn’t integrate well with the Google Assistant. Why does this matter? Because Fitbit wants to be a company that focuses on health and wellness. If Fitbit is going to do that, they need to be using a smartwatch OS that integrates well with Google Assistant. That’s why they need to develop their own smartwatch OS.

While Fitbit is developing their own smartwatch OS, they can still sell their smartwatches with the Fitbit OS. However, they would need to release a completely new model with the new smartwatch OS. This is why Fitbit should ditch Google’s Wear OS and focus on developing their own proprietary operating system.

Our Suggestion

In nut shell, I’d like to give a big shout-out to the Fitbit brand. They’ve had a great reputation over the years and their devices are reliable.

They’ve recently started to move into the smartwatch market, however, and I’m not sure they’ll have a good future as a manufacturer of smartwatches.

Their latest models are well-built but they don’t have a whole lot of interesting features. In fact, they’re pretty much just a scaled-down version of the Fitbit Blaze, which I’d recommend instead.

In nut shell, I think there are other smartwatches that are better suited to the needs of consumers. For example, I personally prefer Pebble’s timeline and design.

However, it’s worth noting that the Fitbit Charge 2 is still very well-regarded by consumers. The Charge 2 was voted one of the best fitness trackers of 2018 by Time Magazine and has received rave reviews for its battery life, design, and features.

I would recommend looking at the Fitbit Charge 2. It’s available on Amazon, and you can check out my full Fitbit Charge 2 review for more information.
