Dairy products, as good as they are for your health, seem to have adverse effects on the skin. There are people around the world, who have faced aggravated skin problems due to the consumption of dairy products, the reason being; high levels of hormone induction in the animals for increased yields of milk.
In the US, the dermatologists and skin specialists alike, recommend you to switch to alternatives of cow’s milk. One famous alternative is almond milk, which is packed with nutrients and has no hormones in it. It is low in carbs and fats, and high on the good nutrients like vitamin D and E. As good as it might be for the health and skin, one thing that cannot be ignored is the fact that it is artificially manufactured. Artificially manufactured products can never compare to the natural and organic ones.
So now what?
Due to the adverse effects that Dairy Products may have, do we skip them altogether?
Luckily not, as we have YOGURT to save the day.
- It is free from hormones
- It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties
- It cannot only be eaten but can also be topically applied on to your skin
It turns out that when milk curds up into yogurt, the adverse effects which it may have on our skin, magically seem to disappear. Yogurt, unlike other dairy products, is good for the skin, so much so that it is known as superfoods for the skin. Greek yogurt is great for people with acne and other skin problems. You can eat it and apply it on to your face to achieve amazing results.
Miracle Yogurt Treatment
You don’t have to buy a bunch of products to wash, cleanse, prep and tone your skin. Yogurt can be used in place of your face-wash, cleanser, facial mask, toner and even for spot treatment. Here is a guide on how you can plan out your beauty regimen simply with yogurt. Let’s get straight into it, shall we?
Wash: (10 – 15 minutes)
Whey ½ teaspoon
Yogurt ½ teaspoon
How?
Simply mix it and apply it to your face. After 10-15 minutes, wet your face and gently massage it to get rid of all the gunk that has been sitting on your skin. Wash it off.
Cleanse:
Yogurt 1 teaspoon
Rosewater as needed
Cotton Pads as needed
How?
Mix until it becomes smooth and then apply it on to your face and neck. Massage for 10-15 minutes in circular motions to remove all the dirt and let it soak into your skin. It tends to dry out as we massage, and we don’t want to pull on to our skin, for which we can use more yogurt, rose water or tap water as needed, to keep it moist. Wipe it off with cotton pads and wash off with lukewarm water.
Mask:
[For Normal to Dry Skin]
Yogurt 1 teaspoon
[For Oily Skin]
Whey 1 teaspoon (or more)
Indian Aztec Clay 1 teaspoon
(Or Fuller’s Earth)
How?
Mix it well and apply on your face and neck with a brush. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash it off with water.
Tone:
Whey as needed
Cotton Pad 1 or 2
How?
Soak the cotton pad with whey and apply it all over your face and neck. Whey has lactic acid in it which exhibits tightening and antimicrobial properties of an astringent. It is great for all types of skin.
Spot Treatment:
Whey 1 teaspoon
Neem Powder 1 teaspoon
How?
Neem (Azadirachta indica) is universally known to have antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is used to treat acne, naturally. It dries out acne and other spots fast and kills the bacteria causing it, ensuring it won’t return any time soon in future. Mix both the ingredients and apply with a cotton swab on those evil zits.
There you go! I’ve put down what I knew, now you can Wash, Cleanse, Tighten, Tone and Treat, all with a single ingredient. Not only does it have numerous benefits for the skin but it will also save you a tonne. The best part is that unlike those OTC facial products, with yogurt, your face won’t feel tight after the skincare routine. It will feel soft, supple and look visibly radiant. You will feel the difference from the first application (not even bragging). The best part being, you know that you are not putting a tonne of chemicals on to your skin.
